Our approach to this website was to keep it simple and include a lot of pictures. We do feel inclined to add just a little more information relative to design. We are often asked “What’s your style?” We reply that we really don’t have a “design style”, but instead we strive to complement a home’s architecture while implementing our collaborative vision.
As a design focused firm, our first recommendation is to consider the purpose, utilization, and potential of an outdoor space. An outdoor area, whether it’s plantings, a single level patio, or a sophisticated terrace, should be well thought out and planned by a professional, similar to a house or an indoor room. We encourage our clients to collaborate with us on how the space should function, which will guide us towards creating a design program. This, in turn, will start identifying desired amenities. Some of these features may include seating walls (or benches); water accents, cooking elements, heating sources, shade structures, lighting and irrigation.
We also encourage our clients to consider the project budget when beginning to think about an outdoor space. The budget will help to define the scope of the project, the materials utilized, and the amenities incorporated. It is important to note that many outdoor spaces can be constructed in phases, so please feel free to communicate your dream spaces to us and then allow our firm to help make your dreams come true. We will design and implement your vision, whether it’s all at once, or over time. Remember the popular adage, ” Failure to plan is planning to fail!” The most important component is to start with a plan- preferably with a Doerler Landscape Architect. We will design and implement your vision, whether it’s all at once or over time.
