Plant of the Month - February 2007
 |
Blue Pacific Juniper, Shore Juniper
(Juniperus conferta)
|
Shore Juniper is an evergreen ground cover suitable for many locations in the garden. It is used in rock gardens and sea shore landscapes and is extremely drought tolerant once established. Juniperus conferta has blue green color year round that is quite attractive and is a nice element in many landscapes.
This Juniper grows to 18” and can spread (over time) six feet or more! Its needles are softer than many similar plants, although can still be slightly prickly to the touch. Each needle has a white line on it’s underside which gives it a bluish color. Grow this plant in sunny locations with well drained soil and it will perform well for you.
